November delivered a fitting finale to what has been another outstanding year in mid-amateur golf. From a runaway win at the NIT to a down-to-the-wire thriller at the Ewing Cup, the month gave us everything—from dominance to drama. We break down both events below as we put a bow on the 2025 season.
As for December we finally get to catch our breath. With no major events on the calendar, the competitive schedule goes quiet. But don’t get too comfortable as our next newsletter will feature a full preview of the 2026 season, including several new marquee stops including The Tree Farm Invitationals kicking off in January. Our Ice Bath section this month delves into some of the new names on the 2026 calendar!
Lastly, a bit of housekeeping. We recently added some limited-run merch to our Shopify store. These pieces were originally created as “thank you” gifts for players who took the time to do profiles with us. After handing those out, we had a handful of extras so we put the remaining stock up for sale. If that speaks to you, head over to the shop and snag what’s left.
Thanks, as always, for the support. Now onto the newsletter!
2025 November Major Mid-Am Tournament Results
Birmingham National Invitational Tournament (NIT)
October 31-November 2nd
Champion: Ryan Terry

Ryan Terry capped off his fall season with a statement victory at the National Invitational Tournament at the Country Club of Birmingham, turning in one of the most complete performances the event has seen in years. His opening round 67 immediately sent a message and made it feel like he was playing a different golf course than the rest of the field. While others battled the demanding West Course, Terry looked fully in command, carving tee shots into tight corridors and walking in birdie putts with quiet conviction.
As the tournament wore on, his lead only grew more imposing. A second round 69 showcased his discipline, as he leaned into smart golf rather than flashy golf, trusting fairways and greens over unnecessary heroics. By the time Sunday arrived, the storyline had shifted from who might catch him to how big the margin might become. Terry’s closing 70 was the final polish on a dominant three-day performance—methodical, mature, and miles ahead of the pack. It was the kind of win that will send Ryan into 2026 with a lot of momentum.
Finally Ryan was nice enough to do a player profile for our Instagram page shortly after the win. Head on over there and check it out!

Ewing Cup Four-Ball
November 14-16 2025
Champions: Charlie Holland & James Minahan

What a phenomenal way to close out the 2025 mid-am “major” season. The Ewing Cup returned once again to the storied Dallas Athletic Club……..an institution that has been part of the city’s golfing fabric since 1919. Over the last century, DAC has grown into one of Dallas’s most respected private clubs, known for its deep competitive tradition and its role in hosting national-level amateur championships. With both the Blue and Gold Courses in play, the stage was set for a dramatic final showdown worthy of the event’s history.
And the finish did not disappoint. Charlie Holland and James Minihan delivered one of the most electric closing stretches of the year. After a steady round, the fireworks began at their 17th hole—the par-4 18th—where Holland found himself short-sided and seemingly out of position. What followed was pure magic: a delicate, clipped wedge that disappeared into the cup for an improbable birdie, suddenly pulling the duo within one of the lead and igniting their charge.
That set the scene for a pressure-packed walk to their final hole, the par-5 1st which was easily reachable all week for the field. It seemed likely they would birdie to force a tie. But James Minihan had something far more dramatic in mind. After a booming tee shot and a fearless approach into the heart of the green, he rolled in a smooth, confident eagle putt to slam the door shut and complete a walk-off win by a single shot. It was a a worthy finish to a busy year of mid-am golf.
The Ewing Cup will continue to gain notoriety as it pivots to draw more national players. Congrats to everyone involved!

The Ice Bath
As you may have seen on our X account there are a number of new events in 2026! The Tree Farm Invitational is first on the calendar January 25–27, 2026 at The Tree Farm in Batesburg, South Carolina. It’s a 36-hole Stableford with no cut, which should keep the action aggressive and the leaderboard moving the whole way. The timing lands in a quiet pocket of the amateur schedule, so it’s set up perfectly to draw a strong, hungry field. And with The Tree Farm already having a big social-media footprint, seeing a high-level Mid-Am event finally test the place in tournament mode is going to be very cool.
Right after that comes The Tabby, a brand-new Mid/Senior Amateur team event at Frederica Golf Club on March 1–3, 2026. The format is awesome: elite two-man teams pairing one Mid-Am (25+) and one Senior-Am (50+) to take on Tom Fazio’s low-country masterpiece on St. Simons Island. It feels like the kind of event that will produce instant chemistry, rivalry, and stories — mid-ams mixing it up with seniors in a true team setting, on a course that demands both creativity and composure. If you like the “golf plus personality” vibe, this one has it baked in.
Then spring heats up with the Jupiter Invitational, set for May 7–9, 2026 at Gil Hanse’s Match Course at Jonathan’s Landing in Jupiter, Florida. This is a 54-hole stroke-play event (no cut) built for an elite Mid-Am & Senior field, with applications already open and invites based on WAGR, USGA results, and major amateur achievements. That résumé-driven selection plus a prime spring slot should pull top talent from all over the country. And Hanse’s Match Course is already a stunner and the debut here feels like the perfect stage to see how a top field attacks one of the most exciting modern designs in Florida
